Yesterday I received a comment from Anonymous in my The Artist In Me blog regarding my designs – my gut tells me that Anonymous is a SHE. I really dunno what she’s trying to entail or what her sentiments are, but all I can say is whatever your sentiments are – sorry, I CAN’T BE BOTHERED. This is the comment - word by word.
Hi Twinks, your designs are good and you have a good selection of color combination. But you have no originality. Your style and ideas are copied from one blogger. Be creative and don't copy. your style and the other blogger designs are looks like brothers and sisters.I have this feeling that I know the other “blogger” she’s referring to, sorry to disappoint you Anonymous – that other blogger is a friend of mine. I consider her as my mentor. In fact, I am a big fan of her. She’s been my inspiration right from the start and I am very vocal to her about it. We respect and compliment each other’s designs.
Ahi-hi-hi gaya-gaya puto maya.
You said I don’t have any originality, hmmm…maybe you haven’t seen all my designs [like this blog of mine?]. As much as possible I try not to use graphics created by other designers in my designs, you see, there are so many elements in Photoshop that you can use – that is if you know how to use them *wink. And if I am using other designers’ creations, I don’t claim them as mine and I give them all the credits they deserve. Every designer has her/his own style, however, similarity in designs are unavoidable when it comes to colors and graphics used, especially if you’re using digi scrapping kits. My designs are based on what my friends have requested; I design and if they approve it – I’m happy – and so far they are all happy.
I am not venting nor ranting here, I am writing this post for the reason that I am disappointed. Disappointed that there are people who are not happy of what others can achieve. I am not a professional web designer but I am proud to say that I am an artist in my own ways. I’ll be damn if I say that I’m not proud of what I have achieved and what I’ve created since I started blogging. I have no educational background in designing, html/css coding and in Photoshop, that’s a fact, but because of my eagerness to learn, I would spend hours in front of my pc just to read tutorials and to enhance my knowledge. Whenever I see other people’s creations and designs, I would compliment them and express my deepest appreciation instead of criticizing them.
I’ve been blogging for months now and I am glad to say that I’ve met few real people online who I consider as friends – and I am very happy that they all appreciate my creations *wink. When I started blogging, like others, I had no idea what to do and how to modify my blog; and now that I’ve learned quite a lot of stuff, I am sharing it to others in ways I can.
Honestly, I am ignoring the comment and I am not affected by it either. I reckon I don’t need to explain myself to her since she’s Anonymous; maybe if she’ll just come out in the open and not hide as Anonymous I will invite her over a cup of coffee *wink. Hehehe
Btw, to Anonymous, you said “I’m a gaya gaya puto maya – a copycat” - believe me dear I knew that already, been calling myself that long time ago – so you don’t need to state the obvious. Hahahaha.
To all, always remember that if others can do it, you can as well. We all have an artist within us, we just need to let it out and make it grow. With determination and patience one can achieve anything, and of course, with the right tools. Be happy of other people’s achievement and ugly or not compliment it; its their work not yours, each of us have our own taste and style.
P.S. Not going to delete the comment – it will serve as an inspiration to me. *wink and I won’t waste my time knowing who’s my Anonymous commenter either.
